Playhouse Arts & Four on the Floor Theatre offer
a week long stilt walking & circus skills workshop
August 11-15 from 10:00 AM -1:00 PM
at Redwood Park in Arcata
Ages 10-17 Cost is $50 with some scholarships available

Students will learn techniques of walking on hand-held stilts and Chinese peg stilts, and will study turns,
kicks, walking backwards, leans, rhythm, and dance choreography on stilts. In addition, students will
explore supplementary circus skills that may be used while on stilts, such as 3-ball juggling, spinning
ribbons, and diabolo. The workshop will meet Monday through Friday from 10-1:00 PM in Redwood Park and

culminate in a short performance on Friday.
The Nomadic Theatre Co teaches circus skills classes: juggling, stilt walking, balancing, acrobatics, unicycle, poi, and clown. The classes encourage individual focus and learning, as well as group collaboration and creativity. Nomadic Theatre Co members have taught circus skills in many Portland schools, at New Avenues for Youth, throughout the Pacific Northwest, and with Clowns Without Borders in Haiti, South Africa, and Swaziland.
