Peter Mulvey with Lila Nelson Peter was seen at the Playhouse last spring as the opening act for Patty Larkin. They gave him a standing ovation and we knew we had to have him back. Local singer songwriter Lila Nelson was at the show and we knew that the two together would be a great show.

Presented by Humboldt Folklife & The Playhouse

Peter Mulvey will be coming through Humboldt County in support of his latest album, Notes from Elsewhere (Signature Sounds) which is a retrospective collection of the very best songs Mulvey has written and performed over his 15 year recording career. Recorded solo in a studio, these are fresh takes on songs that have become fan and critic favorites over the years. While Mulvey's previous band-backed albums showcased the songs, these solo versions allow each song to shine on its own demonstrating Peter's strengths as a songwriter.
THE IRISH TIMES: "Peter Mulvey is consistently the most original and dynamic of the US singer-songwriters to tour these shores… A phenomenal performer with huge energy, a quick fire, quirky take on life, and an extraordinary guitar style… a joy to see."
Tickets are $15 general and $13 HFS members and will be available at Wildwood Music and The Works.

GETTING IT, written and directed by Jane Hill, is a haunting yet humorous tour-de-force that introduces us to four women "in mid-life and beyond", bringing their lives into focus in a way which is both entertaining and affecting. Featuring the acting talents of Susan Abbey, Lynnie Horrigan, Tinamarie Ivey, and Christina Jioras, the show consists of four unique monologues, each moving and funny, and interconnected in surprising ways.

About Jane Hill and the play:
A co-founder of the Dell'Arte Players Company and the Dell'Arte School, Jane Hill is a veteran teacher, director, actress and arts administrator, who has recently moved back to Eureka. She originally performed GETTING IT herself, playing all four characters. Developed with the support of Brava! Women in the Arts, it was presented in the Bay Area, at the Dell’Arte festival and on tour throughout Nebraska.
“I have been wanting to resurrect this show for some time, but in a new and exciting way,” Jane explained. “When Redwood Curtain told me they were looking for a project, I came up with the idea of updating and reworking the piece for four actresses. I am excited about collaborating with these four terrific women and with the talented folks at Redwood Curtain.”
“We are thrilled to be producing Jane’s play” said Artistic Director Clint Rebik. “When Jane offered us not only the script, but to direct it herself, we jumped at the chance to work with her.” Jane has also been reunited with some of her favorite local designers, including Tom Roscoe doing scenic design, and Michael Foster on lights.
Curtain is promptly at 8:00 for all performances, which take place at the Arcata Playhouse, 1251 9th Street, Arcata.
